Oil pastels were used by impressionist artists Degas ,Toulouse Lautrec and others.The vibrancy of the colours gives good results on pastel paper.The Sennelier brand  pastels that they used is still available today.

Seurat drawings.

 Georges Seurat is one of my favourite artists. He invented new ways of painting such as pointillism and a method of drawing known as Seurat's halo theory using a range tones to create depth  with black and white and grey.

                      This is Agnes who posed  for a life drawing group I belong to in Cambridge,UK.

Vincent Van Gogh suffered from mental illness all his life. His last years were spent in the south of France where the  heat and bright, clear, light influenced his style of painting exaggerated colours and forms.

He did not sell a single painting during his lifetime and now his works fetch millions£.There is hope for us all.

This is my version of a Starry Night.
